Hello Hello to gypsies gadze (s) Hello to
zotres
Some titles give a pretty good idea of the theme of the book: the mustache , Passion Simple or Murder on the Orient Express are a few. Others are more enigmatic and can not be explained at the turn of a paragraph such as the wild camel's opponent.
Grace and deprivation into a third category and this title so beautiful and poetic gives a glimpse of just text quality and sensitivity of the ineffable Alice Ferney.
The subject
In a deserted wasteland of all, a family of gypsies was sedentary, living on the margins of society and its rules. Mother Angeline rules the clan consists of his 5 son, her 4 daughters and their children. All comic books, they tolerate more than they accept early makes weekly visits to Esther for their children to read. Gradually, some links are forged between them and women.
My opinion
A (e) avid reader can not be an Interested in a book devoted to the magic of reading and, indeed, I had almost to tears by discovering the passage where Esther, on his first visit, began playing a Babar.
This book could have been a favorite. It is not so little. The writing is superb Ferney, sensitive, intelligent, with this sense of detail that captures a situation as a whole, saying that gives little to understand much without any demonstrative effect. The author obviously loves and respects his characters. No situation is grotesque and mawkish. Camp life is described in fascinating female characters are extraordinary. The chapters follow one another without the attention or interest never abate. The novel was thus endowed with all the attractions but I'd rather he tries to convince me sometimes.
If I really won out again and totally charmed my reading, it is nevertheless true that when I think by ignoring my emotions, I find two major flaws that make the novel so Grace and deprivation is undoubtedly a very beautiful book and a great time playing, this is not a great book for those who most please us, upset us or inspire us change us deeply, we mark, we sobering we live.
First I blame the novel a certain naivety and even a certain Manichaeism. This is obviously the most basic right of the author to take part, to adopt the view of the Gypsies, but then it does so clearly, it assumes that position completely. In fact, under covered with a facade of neutrality makes sense to show both sides of the same coin, Ferney often shows complacent face expressions of contempt towards gypsies gadze (word meaning both "non-Gypsy" and "whore": everything is said!) where it readily emphasizes those gadze against gypsies. If the misogyny of the gypsies is shown in a factual manner throughout the book, it is never discussed, never challenged in the book, never raised. It's the same for subjects such as dirt, theft, labor. If the novel book of vague elements of argument is always a justification for one-way who finds no contradiction in the pages of Ferney ... For example, a gypsy who says he does not work because the only job that he could claim the disgraced Esther (or writer!) Does not, however, these jobs, there are men and women who do and they are no less respectable instead. Esther from beginning to end just the roles of readers and spectators and at no time does a real dialogue, attempts to explain, debate and better understanding.
And I come naturally to the second flat that I extend to the novel. Esther reads books to children and will fight to give them access to schooling. But it s'assête there. For months and months, every Wednesday, she came to spend a few hours reading books. One day she intends to make her laundry, she takes another woman to complete a water bottle but its involvement is limited to this. She fears that children have cold seeing bedraggled in the winter and it suggests they get a sweater and they say they do not. How a woman who weaves supposedly links with these people for months would not have had the idea of their old clothes of his own son? How as a mother she would not spent 50 euros in a discount store for a few polar? The only gift she made one day these children can not play is a game of cards.
bed Esther, Esther answers questions, but finds Esther Esther is constantly in the background, not questioning Esther, Esther does not challenge, Esther does not stimulate the imagination, desire, confidence. Esther does not seek to give children the desire to learn to read. Esther is confined in a passive role, the role of witness and allowed the exchanges remain ultimately very superficial, limited involvement.
Ultimately, I do not understand or what I understand of it to me foreign makes. I can not believe that the original initiative of Esther has not had more impact on her and led to unintended consequences, an additional implication, growing over time and, rightly or wrongly, the feeling a responsibility to these children. The commitment and dedication can not be limited to a set schedule as immutable as visits to a psychiatrist because humanity and affects not programmed well.

When Will The Chevy Tahoe Change
Hello to Friend (s) Hello to lover (s)
Hello to zotres
The U.S. romantic comedies are not films that I'm going to see film spontaneously. I saw it projected release. I walked into the room with a ton of prejudice and, after seeing it, I guarantee that if you go to the cinema once every 36 months, Sexfriend is not a priority absolute and I'd recommend instead The speech of a king example ...
That being said, if you go to the movies often, the situation is different. I'm surprised myself really love this movie, smiling from beginning to end and walk (no, not only for the beautiful Ashton Kutcher should do a little dieting!) point out that I felt the need to ask others present if they liked it or not. Overall, not at all (for reasons that made me hallucinate a bit anyway because we knew we were not facing an arthouse films) but this does not change the fact that I , yeah, I liked ...
The subject
Emma and Adam know vaguely and briefly crossed paths several times during their adolescence. When they fall upon each other to literally and figuratively, Adam has just received a shock rather humiliating and Emma is an internal medicine overbooked and literally panicked at the idea of commitment. Those two were then made to sleep together and even if nothing more affinities.
My opinion
The poster warns "Between" Sex Friends ", we must follow some basic rules: Never afford gifts. Do not dine alone together. Accept competition. Forget the word "darling (e)". Always leave before breakfast. And above all, never fall in love! Is that clear to Emma and Adam?
It is clear that without the final warning, there would be no film because it's obviously not deflower the subject or break a breathless suspense as to say that obviously love will complicate gives so perfectly simple in theory ... As for the other 5 rules, I do agree with the 3rd: sexfrienditude the works if not exclusive, I would say that it only works under this condition. In fact, there are 2 other than the name does not suggest that Anglo-Saxon gave the concept
- the first is especially not choose one / friend (s) as sex friends because it is much safer (e) to ruin a friendship than to find a (e) good (not) lover (e)!
- the second is not to imagine that it could last forever (although it may take a while). But what lasts in this world today, huh?
Otherwise, the rules mentioned on the poster are cans: if you could give gifts or dinner with someone (e) to fall in love / is it is not. They are even counterproductive insofar as the sexfrienditude requires minimal maintenance other than physical, more than a few hours under a duvet. It feeds on complicity and sharing. It's finally something very emotional.
In fact, I know the subject well. The practice of "sexfriendship" was for some years a sort of lifestyle most enjoyable, both hedonistic and pragmatic, full of light (balancing) of various pleasures of (good) surprises variety of discoveries and sensual , incidentally, of (beautiful) memories for my old age (but not necessarily to tell my grandchildren !!!).
is probably why the film's subject was interested in base: I wanted to see how he was treated, I would not identify with Natalie Portman (the poor do not obviously happens at the ankle) but recognize certain traits, smiling vaguely to certain situations experienced.
Alas, no man has ever offered a bouquet of carrots. but is it too late?
The film does not go that far and did not specifically intended to develop a sociological analysis of the phenomenon but rather to place the mechanics of any comedy U.S. self-respecting romantic: 2 beings who desire, will attract each other and love each other and inevitably end up together, so we thought (my eye) that all was lost ... All the ingredients are there: a little heavy friends who give bad advice, sister bloom that gives good advice, rival cynical, the other girl madly in love, syrupy music, the fatal rupture, misunderstandings, jealousy and ... ZE happy ending! Ahhh!
The fact remains that if I hated some scenes squinting into the gravel and I was called up some dialogue from the series Californication (where fault scenario one makes Jean-Marie Bigard clumsy), I liked this film for the reasons mentioned above, but also I think because it complies with the codes of the genre, it breaks at least 2:
- basically the heroes do not seek love, they even try to dismiss their thoughts or to flee,
- Emma and it is not Adam who runs the relationship and imposes rules. She is the driving force of history and the leader of the action. Girl Power! Yeahhh!
the cast, the couple works. Ashton Kutcher is fun, and deliciously evil smile and wearing Natalie Portman gives a lot of pep to her character.

Hi Philippe, Emmanuel, Jean-Paul and Fabrice Hello to zotres
The 3 finalists of the prize QD9 2010 have one thing in common with the 3 musketeers : they are 4! The
zheureux Zelus are
6 votes - French Life - Jean-Paul Dubois
3 votes - The origin of violence - Fabrice Humbert
3 votes - More lives than mine - Emmanuel Carrère
3 votes - Beach Manacor, 16.30 - Philip Jaenada
The fact that 13 novels are in the running caused the dispersion of votes ... Only the novel Dubois received a massive number of votes (6 of 9) and 3 zotres received 3 votes each.
I could, like last year, decide to remake a ballot to designate 2 of the 3 novels tie but I have not done for several reasons:
- first because Jaenada had two novels in contention for what is less a sign of popular enthusiasm and I found it unfair that risk elimination anyway (note that, as I expected, no jury has voted for 2 the author's books,
- then, I confess I was tempted to change my original vote in favor of a French life that did not need it and carry it forward to 4:30 p.m. Manacor range of what would the outset Jaenada qualified as a finalist but Humbert Carrère and would have remained tied and the question of a second round would have remained full and equally unfair,
- also because it would still need a mailing to my darling jury then raises to the less disciplined, calculations, charts, tips and tiring stuff,
- finally after all because it is "my" price, that everyone (e) knows that I have ambitions dictatorial or predispositions, but too few opportunities to show ...

Silver Strike Bowling In Orlando
Hello child soldiers Hello to the Angels
Bon appetite to cannibals
Hello to zotres
In 2009, I devoured Johnny Chien Emmanuel Dongola wicked and I loved this book as to integrate it with my selection for the price QD9 2010. my choice has apparently vowed to zotres (s) since this novel is among the 3 finalists.
early 2010, an episode blogosphere already repeatedly mentioned here and elsewhere, I discovered the wonderful Papua Jean-Claude Derey that Cynthia offered me.
This literary encounter made me want to contact the author and, following our discussions, he sent me two of his novels, a copy of the sublime Angels cannibals whose theme is similar that the novel of Dongola. I loved this book and I can already tell you that will be part of my selection for the price QD9 2011.
The subject
Yondo had everything to be an ordinary little boy even happier if this is the place and when he was born in Sierra Leone civil war. One evening, her parents are summarily executed before his eyes. Her little brother and his sister kidnapped. He is alone and will struggle to survive despite everything and its descent into hell implaccable lead him to become a child soldier with all that that status implies violence, drugs, murder, rape, brutality, stupidity, despair and ... insecurity.
My opinion
What a shock that this book!
Inevitably, comparisons with Johnny Mad Dog was immediately imposed on me and I found moult corroborating information, anecdotal or terrible, the conditions of recruitment of child soldiers, their hands cut off, rape, pervasive drug, magic, nicknames, international aid, the scraps of surviving childhood despite everything, etc..
So I was, so to speak, to country (inhospitable) knowledge in land (mineral) familiar but at no time have I found this second trip (to Deer Hunter) redundant, repetitive. I even, for sure, had more fun on the substance and form.
Substance
Jean-Claude Derey looks and how to construct his stories and digging his subjects. The novel adopts the perspective of Youndo that we follow step by step on his way to Calvary childish. It is a kind of Candide in the universe projected nightmare of war, both witness and actor, sometimes surviving by sheer force of will, sometimes by chance, mere coincidence.
On the form
Derey's writing is beautiful, strong and committed. Because the author's words without biting into complacency, because there are so many feathers in his blackness than trucculence, poetry as analytical coldness, because his palette is rich and balanced and that the beauty of its language gives even greater force to the gravity of the matter.
Title
Title, Angels cannibals sums up what I just wrote. It is a lovely oxymoron rather poetic summary of the contents of the book tremendously and it addresses the issues: Can we be both victim and executioner? When does one cease to be one for no longer than the other? The innocence of childhood is it not the best basis for extreme violence?
Other opinions
I loaned this book 2 times. Anne-Sophie has enjoyed so I thought but did not have a blog to say this is not the case of Mister Gangoueus which I was certain that the subject would interest and that, too, was sensitive to the beautiful writing Derey.
Conclusion
Without hesitation one of my 3 favorite French novel in 2010. A big thank you to Jean-Claude Derey to look far to Africa, to make me want to better understand (insofar as I am able) and especially, to write so good!

A person working for the site sent me an email announcing the creation of the site BOAT . I find the concept so great and I relayed the news with delight. But the site lacks still a few usability and content because the research I've done has failed.
It gives me also the opportunity to tell a story without artistic interest if not for me and it proves that I have simple pleasures (sometimes).
When FIAC 2006, I discovered some curious sculptures under the canopy of the Grand Palais . They liked me beyond words for their poetry and character undeniably photogenic. At the time, I did not have me yet I had the digital camera easy and I pulled my laptop without hesitation or restraint.
Alas, my battery was flat and I could take only 3 shots of these works. Yet I loved taking all angles and curves in understanding all the reliefs and admiring the playful sensuality, play with them, enter the details. But unfortunately, I quickly lost the flyer with the work of this artist that I do not know and not having noted his name, it was impossible to do any research on the net to learn more about what I saw and liked. Shortly after, I chose the photo below as a visual identity Quoide9 Yahoo group (the forerunner this blog). She has remained since.
before yesterday in the subway, I stumbled upon a poster in the underground movement before a red on white, slim and sculpture immédiatemen identifiable. The author called Tony Cragg some of whose works are currently present Louvre in conjunction with the exhibition Franz Xaver Messerschmidt . It's stupid to say, but it is true that I stayed off the front display, the fascinated gaze and smile and gaze. I believe that Just Fun, what I felt then can be likened to a small moment of happiness. course, go to the Louvre . Incidentally, I will also go to the Rodin Museum see the exhibition Henry Moore sculpture whose superb header past the church of St. Eustache is associated with another anecdote, it is absolutely not tellable here (and which itself relates more fun than happiness).

Fake Id's In London,ontario
Hello to those facts that fascinate various hello to those they worry
Hello to zotres
Before starting writing this post, I knew that the preamble would be long and detailed. I already had the time frame in the head but I did not imagine for one second that I encounter a complication even before the draft.
Context
For the first time since I created this blog, it was hard to make my traditional introductory hello. Sometimes I lack inspiration, but never before had I felt discomfort to write the first thing (or inspired not) that came into my head. This time I biased and I wrote the second thing that crossed my head. It is difficult to say whether to consider this book.
In fact, I did not read it. Upon its release, I remember the controversy surrounding the process of Emmanuel Carrère and the interest of telling this story both fascinating and sordid, tragic and unbelievable. Being neither a fan nor the scandals of various facts, I had quickly concluded that this book was not for me and, having read and loved Other lives than mine, after reading and diversely appreciated The Moustache , I wanted my first position. Yes, I would read other Carrère but not this one. And yet I have my house for months, demonstrated on a shelf next to class snow (which I will wait before reading).
When I had a discussion with a colleague about this author and she told me she had read nothing of him but was very tempted to find the opponent, I proposed lend. Miraculously, I thought about it (with pride!) One morning last week and I stuffed into my bag to bring.
Parapraxis or not, who knows, it is certain that even this morning I forgot strangely at me and deprivation With the superb novel by Alice Ferney and so I found the bus with nothing to if not read my diary, some text messages (and precision liliB few sexto too) and ... The opponent . So I opened and I did let go.
The subject
On January 9, 1993, Jean-Claude Romand kills his wife and two children, his parents before taking pills and set fire to his house. He will live.
For 18 years this secretive man, somewhat transparent, had succeeded in making everyone around her believe that he possessed a medical degree and was a researcher at the WHO in Switzerland. In fact, it was none of that, passing her days in her car and lived in defrauding the members of his family he had left dangling investment windfall.
My opinion
My refusal to read this book lies less in the highly glaucous appearance due to a variety of double embarrassment and questions that provoked in me the idea to make the Recounting one hand and read the other.
Without getting into a self-analysis bazaar and highly immodest, I think there's Romand in me (as in each (e) it says) and if most aspects of his personality to make me be a contemptible, despicable, inexcusable in every way, revolting (etc.), immeasurably loose (a word that appears for the first time in the final pages of the book). The fact remains that it is a part of him that I understand. If I know (thankfully!) That my personality is in many ways the antithesis of what led to Romand killed his family, I understand very well, however some features of his character that led to tragedy, or at least have made the circumstances that led to the tragedy possible.
There is a word I've never found in the 200 pages of Carrere is the word indecisive. It seems to me evident from the first pages of the novel that is due to an explosive cocktail of fear (panic) to deceive, deny the conflict (of terror against the war?) Of depressive tendency and velléitarisme deep (even abulia) that Romand put the finger in the gears without ever having enough willpower and energy to remove it.
I see this phenomenon fascinating and exciting and even the trigger, the starting point All subsequent lies and the fact that it has preferred Romand fouling rather than come out of it is an aspect of the story much more interesting than its fatal conclusion. In this case, it is a "no action". How to call it otherwise? not even a decision not to do, just letting time slip, waiting until it is too late to being unable to decide anything, a kind of mental tetany, priming a bomb inducing delayed slow suicide and passive ... During the trial, the accused tried to justify and rationalize this starting point by a new avalanche of lies too absurd to insulting its victims. Why did he not want to say that at one time (several actually), it was like a rabbit in front of the headlights of a car unable to move.
This psychological dimension and analytical causes fascinated me and knowing even before reading the book that fascinates me is one of the reasons I did not want to open it. Romand's personality, however, is far to fascinate me. I think the sentiment that has dominated all my reading is the total disregard, without the slightest shred of early commencement of compassion, a final decision based on the profound conviction of the absolute cowardice and falsity of man. On the equally obvious to me that he never wanted to commit suicide though may say (though perhaps thinks himself), he feels no repentance and faith he claims to feel that all these acts and words are calculated, displaced indecent. If
Emmanuel Carrère sometimes can suggest or evoke some of these points even as many questions and mysteries, it also evokes its opposite, the possibility of a form of sincerity, repentance, grief experienced for what he has done more than what happened to him ...
And I come (finally!) To the 2nd aspect of the double embarrassment that I mentioned above: I do not always perceive the views of the author. His opinion, yes, more or less (although this is not the subject of the book ...) but the views he wished to adopt in his book, no. And that's a huge paradox or even a tour de force of the author, because if it is something that has really been a problem from the point of intellectual and even moral in the case (again before even opening the book), on the other hand, I think it was almost impossible to do otherwise, to tell this story differently.
The author himself is struck for several years to develop this pitfall of having interrupted the writing of his book before continuing. He constantly uses a method somewhat similar to that given later in More lives than mine : lack of perspective, he contextualizes his story, he punctuates punctuating the narrative with references to his own existence, its own actions or thoughts. In writing the above, I realize that I have not done anything in writing this review.
As for the inevitable "how is this possible?" Yes, obviously, everyone wondered question and there, other discomfort ... Who thought I mentioned the series of murders and not the 18 years total lie? In the end, it is surely the most amazing in this story because to achieve a carnage, insanity of one man is enough. To lie his life to this point, we must contrast the gullibility, passivity of an entire family circle that never called the office, has never set foot in a statement, never asked a never heard a question or answer? This dimension of existence Romand oscillates between comedy and pathos, and finally it is less the lies that leave themselves incredulous that the fact so many people have the Gobes for so long. And again the author ignores the word "communication" but essential for his analysis that reality with dramatic consequences. What is this couple? What blinders were his parents? Which led collective blindness to 5 people to death. The fascination
amazed that anyone can experience some aspects of the case Romand is the same type as the one we feel when thinking of the husband Courgeau and again, stupor lies less in the behavior of a hallucinatory mother in the fact that a husband, family, friends see nothing.
In the end, I can send a reproach to the author complains that he has also addressed itself (to prevent others from possibly do next? It does not work, the proof ...). Intentionally or not, Emmanuel Carrère Romand makes the hero he has always fantasized of being. The author tells the story becomes "her" story and not that of his victims relegated to the role of secondary characters and who, by definition, not speaking. So why give it to the murderer? Why publish his letters? Why is the highlight and not to take testimony from parents, brothers and sisters of victims as he obligingly raised his? As he met in prison (one time course).
Maybe he esssayé? Maybe they did not wish to meet him? But then he would have had to say, give them the right to remain silent rather than impose on them.
Conclusion A disturbing book but certainly stunning, intelligent, brilliant, perfectly controlled (but sometimes less is more human control). A book on the edge of which the author comes out very well. But I can only repeat my two questions:
Why has he written and why we read?
film adaptation of Nicole Garcia with Daniel Auteuil and Geraldine Pailhas. Not seen. No desire.

Hello to live (s) Thoughts for the death (s) Hello to
zotres
Price QD9 2010 had different merits, one of which is allowing me to finally read the novels of three author (s) s I wanted to discover for a while and whose novels were waiting at home that I decided to open ... Laurent Gaude was one of them. If 5 of his books were squatting the shelves of my library (twice for some), I have indeed been forced to acquire The door of hell , as chosen by LiliB . I was not really convinced by this novel, but it made me want to read some others soon to this writer.
The subject
The story takes place in Naples to those distinct periods. In the early 2000s, a man assaults another out of revenge. During the year 80, a 6 year old child was killed by a stray bullet during a shootout leaving his parents with immense pain and devastating.
My opinion (for spoilers)
An Unusually, this review discusses a crucial point of plot content because it is this element that motivates much of my opinion very mixed feelings about the book .
I have said many times on this blog that I did not like the mix of genders and the main criticism that I can send this book explains much (but not only) that I have not really been attached much less upset by the story is this bias of the author of the fantastic dive abruptly at about half of the novel while it plunges one of his characters in the bowels of the earth Search her son's death.
I was expecting a novel about grief, the pain on the breaks and the madness it can generate. I had not thought for one second that the title of the novel is to be taken at face value. Frankly I hated the whole infernal part of the novel. Beyond the fact of joining or not on the merits in this descent into hell chosen by the author (or, why not, it's his choice), I found it ridiculous on the bottom, flat and incoherent full of nonsense and without any metaphysical or analytical interest.
I am convinced that the whole story would have been just as effective if not more so, for I know not what ellipse (as some (s) might have taxed the facility or tried frustrating), the author had spared us these 50 pages dripping with endless nonsense and despairing of glauquitude.
And here I touch on a paradox that I myself find it difficult to analyze. I often used to say I love the darkness, cruelty, immorality, cynicism, violence in literature. That's what I liked in particular Malaparte, Gunzig, Derey, Calaferte, Ellroy and many other authors. So why have I hated vision of hell as hopeless by Gaudi? As I write this, I think I understand the answer: the pathos.
The bowels of the earth are supposed to stink, but the suffering of those Gaudé feel paradoxically marshmallow and artifice. If the underworld by Gaudé were just cold, inhuman, and glaucous hopeless, I could probably have become interested in their description (though) but I think what made it unbearable to me is, first, overly descriptive side of the thing so guided tour in a question and answer (but then what do they ? and now what happens? Where does that sound? and why? and how? "Like when a tour bus arrives in a nick produces handmade Turkish carpets where the guide commissioned sales proceeds to answer the questions most peak) and, secondly, the size and dripping with tearful all this suffering. Overload effects Focus tear me swells and the dead suffer doubly m'insupporte:
- In times of resolute atheist who thinks that a body part is a body,
- In called time who remembers his catechism lessons other hand, I remember that faith can believe in a better world.
according Gaudé Eternity is not a part of fun (and not necessarily eternal if it elsewhere) and saw what he imagined after death, I am surprised that he sincerely thought of dedicating his novel to all dead to distract them in the afterlife. Because frankly, in some pages, there's plenty to lend a limestone coldest of stiffs!
From my point of view, the most beautiful passages in the novel are located at the beginning of the novel and relate to the pain and parental rupture induced by the family drama. Then it goes bad and much cursing and female maternal rather remind me of some old-fashioned grandstanding speeches of early talkies that sincerity of raw emotion.

Once again, the temptation was great to add comments Me but I had the strength to resist the temptation ... Everything that follows therefore sent me as the author ...
Hi Cecilia,
It's nice to see how much you hated Kuru ...
Finally, I want to say is an emotion and it's always this (here I use the classical technique of the author who said that, at least, the text does not leave indifferent ...). Anyway, here for questions and answers ... especially
01 - Do you read what you said about you on blogs?
course. This is one of the vices which I am most shameful, just after looking in my nose and make meatballs that I send to the ceiling ...
02 - What is your literary heart shot from your reading of 2010?
Ho ben since we should not choose a book published in 2010 (but read in 2010) I think the "Bar Under the Sea" by Stefano Beni is a real favorite. I love this book is written with tremendous energy, it's funny, it's deep ... It's been awhile since I had not read something that makes me want to write much ...
03 - You have the art of writing the worst atrocities on a light tone that evokes particular scenes of Reservoir Dogs by Quentin Tarantino, but some pages Kaput and The Skin of Curzio Malaparte. And then, reading the news which gives its title to the fabulous book "There was something in the dark we had not seen," I thought the film No Mans Land. What do you think of these references (all rave from my point of view)?
I love Tarantino (although I was somewhat disappointed by his last, the thing with the Nazis). Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction are real references for me ... Malaparte, I have a little ashamed, but I 've never read ...
For "No Mans Land", I of course loved this movie. Exactly the kind of movie I would have liked to turn. Thank you for these comparisons, they are indeed very, very flattering ...
04 - Most of your characters are psychopaths coldly, resolutely amoral or completely crazy. Where did you get this interest in human beings as delicious?
Frankly, I do not know ... I have some ability to describe, I think .... Without doubt that deep inside, there's a guy like that ... But the guy like that coexists with another guy who cries in "Monster et compagnie"...
C'est-à-dire que je suis fasciné par le bonheur dans la mesure or it is a feeling that I understand absolutely not. That does not mean I'm unhappy ... It just means that I am a little agitated ... I'm glad ten seconds, and then sad hyper ten seconds, and then hyper cynical ten seconds, and then super villain ten seconds, and then super nice, and then hyper bastard, and then hyper love and then go again .... At the end of the day, I sleep well.
06 - As much as I loved Death of a perfect bilingual point to select for the price QD9 2010 (the book is actually my favorite among those I read during the past year), I hated all the Kuru. Do you understand those views very clear-cut and competing on these 2 books? heuuu ... Yes ... People are sometimes so bizarre ...
07 - You've been known to you before to be for your novels. What are the main difficulties in the narrative form of either of these genres and you think, why the news is she still considered a minor genre?
The news is considered a minor genre because it does not sell. Otherwise, technically there is no real difference ... I know there's a lot of people who gargled with fine analysis ... I think the main difference is ... length ... So, in a novel, there may be scenes of joints ("during the return trip, he stayed a long time to contemplate the end of his shoes. He wondered why they were so dirty and then he remembered have tempered the market in a lawn dotted with clumps of land that the moles were digging nymphomaniac overnight Valentine's ....") In a news is a little tighter ... Anyway, now I just want to make movies of alien beasts ...
08 - The great strength from you and ended on the unspoken suggesting for open when everything is already played that allows your readers to feel a curious mixture of jubilation and guilt to imagine the atrocities that follow necessarily inevitable end point. Is it not the height of perversity that make the reader aware that it is even more twisted than you?
Exactly. Everyone is more twisted than me. It kills me that I repeat to those I meet. I am a monster of balance.
09 - How will Minitrip these days?
I think it turns the Californian porn chain. The day is fine. In the evening, when she alone, she dreams of me ... But it's too late ... I could never go after all these guys ...

Hello Hello to the nyctalopic zotres
With this collection of short stories, Thomas Gunzig proves once again that he has a keen sense of good title and it is showing its colors: black, black, very black ...
My opinion
I found in There was something in the dark not seen , everything I loved in Death of a perfect bilingual
- a modern language and effective ,
- an amorality assumed,
- crazy characters at best and at worst very disturbing through all possible variations in the records as victims or psychopathic one has the impression that the world is binary Gunzig, populated by those / those who kill on one side and those / those dying of another, without that, ever, the dash seems Manichean or caricature
- pervasive despair in the sense that it does there can be a happy ending to the stories of the collection.
This last point brings me to a finding also heartening and troubling: Gunzig Thomas has the talent to finish his new special on the unspoken when everything is already played and that what follows is the end point perfectly clear. Therefore begins, the reader nurse finds himself in the position to view these scenes, imagining them in all their horror and ... gets!
Although I enjoyed Carbowaterstoemp ( mentioned yesterday), this collection is far superior in my opinion by the density texts, by their construction implaccable and lasting impression that they print while reading.
All new collection of nuggets are anthrax, nightmarish, hellish black as night. A few weeks after my reading, I keep them all in memory and I know that at least half of them long remain etched in my mind. You who read me, do the test, how do you keep new memories sharp and clear? If you've read Buzatti, Gary, Gavalda, Maupassant, Ron Nurse, Forster Wallace and many others (I place Zweig aside), how many of their lyrics could tell you the progress and fall? Not that much eh? Quick read, quickly forgotten the news? Not those of Gunzig Thomas.

Hello the gourmet Belgian Hello to new eaters
Hello to zotres
Thomas Gunzig blows hot and cold in my library. I aaadooorrré (no less) his first novel Death of a perfect bilingual which is the book that I read all my favorite from 2009, and logically so I proposed in the selection Price QD9 2010. To my delight, this book is among the 3 finalists in category Roman francophone. However I (almost) Kuru hated . I was very annoyed
for at least 2 reasons:
1 / I do not dislike a book (logical)
2 / 9 I wanted to ask questions to the author as I did with Laurain , and Reinhard Ravalec last year and my opinion on Kuru is so negative as I dared not recontact (my deontological Blogo-logy forbidding me to give up saying what I think for the sake of putting in online exchange of emails with an author). And then if I still dare ... and his answers to my 9 questions are a real treat! They will be online Friday.
My opinion
Until then, it was another feast for the sauce that I invite you. A few weeks ago, thanks to Cynthia , I discovered a tantalizing short story collection where I found the ingredients that made me salivate for this author. So I devoured those juicy texts organized as agape sometimes sour and sometimes bitter and never (too) sweet.
I love the heavy atmosphere, sometimes disturbing, sometimes glaucous, sometimes two at a time that inhabits each text. In short, I really enjoyed myself and if you know of stuff culinary metaphor for all the sauces last few lines it's not for nothing: Carbowaterstoemp is constituted as a menu which is not clear in advance what the characters will be eaten sauce ... but trust Gunzig , they will anyway ... Another original collection is to provide 4 times of short variations on the same generic theme (very large indeed), a situation comparable to or starting a simple correspondence ...

2 - Hors d'oeuvres and canapes, as the sign of Chorizo, pages 41-58
A teenager of 15, virtuoso pianist and one is left idle during the holidays ... An excellent opportunity to do some experiments ...
3 - Combination dinners at the hotel, pages 59-90
Under this heading are grouped five short stories more or less tasty, my favorite uppermost. Too cold
: What happens when three son dad named Pierre-Henri, Jean-Nicolas and Kader offered a skiing holiday in Austria? Too hot
: Holidays, 2 parents, 2 kids, a dog, a car, a beach: countless sources of problems ... Too early
: No bowl falling on a boiler when it is down on business travel to Berlin
Too late: Love Is compatible with a darts championship? Too fat
: When two journalists were welcomed like royalty in the Hungarian countryside ...
4 - Five snacks for the show Take Five, pages 91-122
From the first lines of each text, we know that the atmosphere is heavy, odd, offbeat and that in each text, things not very pretty-pretty will happen and that is what is so delightful ... Therefore, the pleasure felt when reading is a bit guilty as sin of gluttony not face assumed a size 38 skirt teasing us that the top of its 70% during sales.
Adagio : what happens there when rats are hungry?
Largo: What happens when a guy he is dumped by a girl not very nice or very nice?

Andante : what happens when you do it too mixes?
5 - The Benefits of gastronomy in the great outdoors, pages 123-153
5 variations around the picnic and the various contingencies that may arise during a walk in the countryside. pickles, chocolate, cheese, sandwich and soft salted butter are among my favorite news of the collection. They are also lighter, more fun.
6 - Three Kingdoms national sweets, pages 155-200
The Grand Duke and The little prince has a very social dimension and offer a very dark vision of Belgium (but these could be new written in (almost) any country in the West). These news are also among my favorites. The Countess is the only new wave of SF lot and, in my opinion, the least successful ... it is certainly the only one I did not like.
7 - Gastronomy hospital. Figures of the transfer. Clinical episodes, pages 201-238
The question is psychiatric hospital ... we obviously could not expect less from the author.

Model Compared To Average Person
Hello to the mustachioed (s) beardless and hairless Hello to all Hello to hair
zotres
A few days ago, I told you of my total enthusiasm after reading the novel More lives than mine (shortlisted for the prize QD9 2010). This was my second foray into the work of Carrere, my first approach was much less positive (understatement) since I hated the movie adaptation that the author had made of his eponymous novel The mustache . with Emmanuelle Devos Vincent Lindon and . So I wanted to read the book to see if I would join the more written work that movie. The answer is undoubtedly yes even if it is a qualified yes ...
The subject
Mark ever decides to shave his mustache but no one around her seems to notice ... worse, his wife Agnes, his colleagues, his friends say he has never worn a mustache. Between the bad joke and insanity, interpretations vary and alternate in the spirit of Mark while his relations with others deteriorate inexorably.
An excerpt from the novel
About a movie starring Cary Grant happened to see on TV
The word appeared late, greeted by applause from the concert, then the announcer came to wish them good night. However, they remained seated on the sofa, side by side, eyes fixed on the screen deserted. Agnes went on another channel, but there was nothing. The film, especially en route, leaving a strange feeling, one felt that the various elements that composed it did not fit together, the namby-pamby and realistic story of the daughter-mother and the doctor smiled clashed with that of the village crazy where you butcher the lynching on perceiving it was doctor, where people were committing murders after serving the sentence which sanctioned, and it almost seemed that instead of watching the film they had made both in As, without consulting or although each trying to undermine the work of another as this would generate an exquisite corpse in wishing it failed to annoy other participants. It was probably as well, he thought, what had worked the writers, by shooting himself in the leg. The snow continued to fall on the screen, it would last all night. He regretted not having a VCR to continue. Page 51
My opinion
If, exceptionally, I wanted to quote from the novel before writing my review is that it is a good approach to what I think of the novel I wonder if the author did not write this passage guide metaphor. From my point of view, the problem described for this movie by chance seen by the two protagonists of the novel is exactly the book: the coexistence of disparate elements that face more than they create cohesion. At the reading, I felt that Emmanuel Carrère was struck with schizophrenia in his novel and some of his spending his Sapper time to the job of writing and structuring of the work done elsewhere.
So I found the novel and the shaky status of the narrator was uncomfortable. The novel is written in 3rd person singular but clearly adopts the view of Mark which he describes the thoughts and changes gradually with the development of the subject. He did not, however, adopts a radical and an ambiguity remains constant. I realize that it is voluntary, but it seemed to me the most singularly useful!
Stay in the dark does not only lose the reader and to keep on their toes (I do not was) it is also (especially?) comfort for the lazy writer who therefore does not even bother to make a coherent novel at s'enquiquiner make sense?
Emmanuel Carrère evacuated the problem of reality and most basic is a shame especially since at the same time, he insists on for pages and pages to describe in detail (and without any real analysis) different assumptions and strategies developed by Marc. It's terribly first degree and it quickly becomes tedious and even boring.
The subject approached me consider Rhinoceros at truism and also ... this recent pub Herta I hate because it gives a picture of the couple that I hate between cruelty incommunicability lying bitch narcissism of women passive and cowardly and stupid man. I realize that this pub is supposed to be funny, light and anecdotal but it does not.
What about the end?
I warn ... Early Spoilers in this paragraph.
The end has taped some (e) s. I just thought it was a facilitated more when the book began to take a turn more substantial and analytical when anxiety began to mount. Carrère suddenly deserted his subject as his character abruptly fled France and reality (or lack thereof ...).
Some links Burnet Carrère is celebrated with lots of links to reviews of various novels by author
